City MAINTENANCE & CCC SUPPORT The Chester Swimming Association prides
itself in its stewardship of the City Baths.
Over the last 30 years the plant & equipment and the overall
structure and fabric of the building have been maintained to a good condition
and many improvements have been made.
This has been achieved through judicious spending, accepting that the
facility looks rather tired but ensuring that money is always available for
essential maintenance. CSA
expenditure on maintenance has averaged £16,800 per year over the last 5
years (including maintenance staff costs), and including the last projects
funded by the City Council in 2004 this yearly average spend rises to
£21,250, 14.5% of current turnover. The City
Council subsidies the City Baths by way of an annual Strategic Grant towards
staffing costs, and the funding of occasional large projects, for which we are
extremely grateful. The table below
confirms that the average annual funding of the City Baths by the Council has
been and continues to be modest, and must represent outstanding value for
money to the City.
