City TEACHING
SCHEMES
The
Chester Learn to Swim Scheme (CLSS) is part of the City of As several
classes are usually run concurrently, siblings of different ability are
easily catered for. Teaching
is based on the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming and the standard of
teaching on the scheme is very high. The scheme
is an integral part of the Swimming Club, feeding high quality swimmers into
the squads and water polo, and subsidising the coaches and squad
training. The
Kingfishers Swimming Club is a very affordable family club with more than 120
children. The aim of the club is to
teach and encourage children to enjoy swimming well. It is run by ASA qualified but voluntary
teachers and parent’s participation is actively encouraged. Like the
CLSS, teaching is based on the ASA National Plan and children progress from
beginners through to advanced.
Kingfishers SC has 7 hours of pool time per week. Again siblings are easily catered for as
both pools are used at the same time. In addition
there are 3 other swim schools operating at the City Baths at the weekends,
with upwards of 150 children. All these
clubs co-exist quite happily and in fact there is regular movement of
swimmers between the clubs, especially between the CLSS and Kingfishers. Finally,
as well as these teaching clubs, 18 schools use the City Baths. Several schools use both pools at once,
economising on transport costs. Many
of the schools are able to employ the services of experienced swimming
teachers from the clubs at the baths. Kingfisher Swimming Club – 01244 380851 – Classes
